Salt doesn’t cause body fat, but it does make you swell and aggravate your abdominal fat bulge. It also contributes to heart disease. People need salt to make their bodies function properly. Most Americans, however, get a lot of salt, so don’t add extra salt.
Salt is as a flavour enhancer and preservative. Read the labels and select a lower salinity (or sodium), but beware: other things replace salt – such as MSG. Drink plenty of water to keep your salt in balance.
