5. Eating under stress
If you eat when you are stressed, your body ends up being conditioned to look for food whenever stressful situations arise. This makes sense from an evolutionary point of view since stress was generally synonymous with starvation at the time. Our brain doesn’t understand the difference between “it hasn’t rained for a week and the crops are dying” and “my boss is crazy and has piled me up 10 projects”. Instead of looking for food for comfort, try going out for a walk or take a 15-minute break to listen to music.
